The Landesgymnasium für Musik Wernigerode is a state music high school in Wernigerode in Saxony-Anhalt .
history
The Landesgymnasium für Musik Wernigerode emerged from the EOS " Gerhart Hauptmann ". As early as 1951, Friedrich Krell founded a mixed choir that soon became known nationally and internationally. In 1964 the first special classes for music were established. In 1971 the ensemble received the title Rundfunk-Jugendchor Wernigerode from the radio of the GDR due to regular high-quality sound recordings , which it still bears today. The radio youth choir is considered a yardstick for the artistic quality of the entire facility. In 1977 the girls' choir Wernigerode was founded as a youth choir of equal voices. In 1991 the State High School for Music Saxony-Anhalt was founded, which is still located in the Fürstin-Anna-Lyzeum in Kanzleistraße, which has been in existence since 1895 . In the meantime, two children's choirs have also been founded, for grades 5 and 6, as well as for grades 7 to 8. Since 1999, the “Old Lyceum” at the Oberpfarrkirchhof has also been part of the school and serves as a second school building. In 2004 and 2005 the former Fürstin-Anna-Lyceum was extensively renovated by the state of Saxony-Anhalt. In 2011/2012 the school yard of the building in Kanzleistraße was redesigned and rebuilt. A year later, a school gymnasium was completed on the property of the boarding school in Salzbergstrasse .
