Salzbergstrasse (Wernigerode)

The Salzbergstraße is one of the main urban roads in the city of Wernigerode in the Harz district in Saxony-Anhalt . It runs southwest of the city center in the Harz Mountains and relieves the inner-city traffic in its first section up to the confluence with Forckestrasse .

history

The name Salzbergstrasse is very old. It goes back to the salt trade in the Middle Ages. Here an old trade route led up the salt mountain towards the mountains. From 1950 to 1990 it was called Maxim-Gorki-Straße .

On the west and east sides of Salzbergstrasse, some listed buildings have been preserved to this day. According to the list of cultural monuments in Wernigerode, these include :
