from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Oberpfarrkirchhof is one of the most important historical places in the city of Wernigerode in the Harz district in Saxony-Anhalt . It is located on the hill called Klint in the center of the village around the Sylvestrikirche , which was the upper parish church of the city.

history

The name is derived from the churchyard around the church of St. Sylvestri and Georgii, which served as the upper parish church of Wernigerode in the early modern period. Originally the community cemetery was located on today's green spaces.

In the current count, the previous numbers 2 and 3 have been given the numbers 6 and 7. The street location of Klint has given way to the current Oberpfarrkirchhof since around 1850 .

The Oberpfarrkirchhof now serves partly as a pedestrian zone and can only be accessed by vehicles in certain areas.
