Edda Grossman
Edda Grossman (born October 12, 1958 in Cologne ) is a German painter .
Life
From 1978 to 1984 she studied at the Berlin University of the Arts and was a student of Karl Oppermann . In 1985 she founded the Berlin artist group Kobalt with her colleagues Norbert Fritsch, Doris von Klopotek, Frank Rödel, Klaus Mollenhauer and Renée Strecker . Several stays abroad in France and Spain followed. In 1988, Edda Grossman and her partner Karl Oppermann opened the La Rambla de las Flors studio in Barcelona, which she maintains to this day. In 1995 the artist dissolved her Berlin studio and acquired the historic art mill in Veckenstedt am Harz. Today the project is a meeting place for cultural and artistic activities. Edda Grossman lives and works in Veckenstedt and Barcelona .
Grossman has two sons.

In the 1980s, Edda Grossman first became known through exhibitions in Berlin . She works on the connection between mythology , literature , music and history . Her metaphorical imagery is characterized by the intensity of color ; she mostly works over a large area and in picture cycles. The dynamic and expressive brushwork is a style defining feature of her painting. Her artistic canon includes images of cities and portraits, allegories and images of saints, as well as still lifes. In addition, she works on objects of everyday life, paints shoe lasts and pieces of furniture, as well as plates, bowls and tiles.

These include the gallery of the Berlin House of Representatives , the Berlin Science Center for Social Research , the Weberbank in Berlin, the Wernigerode Town Hall , the Harz District Music School in Wernigerode, the August Bebel European School in Blankenburg (Harz) , the Kniphausen Castle Foundation in Wilhelmshaven, and Klippenstein Castle zu Radeberg, the public insurance company in Braunschweig , the Bayerische Hypobank in Hanover and Hamburg , and the Caixa Terrassa in Barcelona.
