Kniphausen Castle

The castle Kniphausen in Fedderwarden in the city of Wilhelmshaven in Lower Saxony was built in 1438 and finally had "the typical image of a noble residence of the late Renaissance ." In 1666/67 it was expanded into a fortress with four corner bastions .

For a long time the castle was the center and seat of government of the glory or rule of Kniphausen .

Today only the former stables with the stair tower and a gatehouse remain of the original castle . The castle is located in the area of the city of Wilhelmshaven and is privately owned. Only the so-called ancestral hall and some ancillary rooms belong to the "Kniphausen Castle Foundation", which makes them available for cultural events and exhibitions.
