Alexander Solotsev

Alexander Solotzew ( Russian Александр Золотцев ; born July 17, 1957 in Kaliningrad , Soviet Union ) is a German painter, graphic artist and sculptor of Russian descent.

Life

Solotzew was born in Kaliningrad into a family of artists with Belarusian roots. His father was an art teacher at the Tambov Art School.

In 1981 Solotzew moved to the German Democratic Republic . A few months before the inner-German border opened in 1989, Solotzew first moved to Landau in the Palatinate . Solotzew has been a member of the Professional Association of Visual Artists Rhineland-Palatinate in the Bundesverband eV since 1989. In 1992 he received German citizenship.

In 1994 the city of Landau in the Palatinate provided him with the artist's apartment in the historic Villa Streccius . Here he was able to show his work in large-format pictures every year. In 2011 he moved from Landau in the Palatinate to neighboring Annweiler am Trifels , where he was able to move into a former church that still serves him as a studio today. Due to his regular exhibitions in the United States of America , Solotzew also has a residence in Florida

At the invitation of the National Arts Club in New York City , Alexander Solotzew presented the solo exhibition "Life in Colors" there, which was organized and curated by the Russian-American Society and met with broad media interest.

Alexander Solotzew is married to Marina Solotzew.

Solotzew was inspired in his works by numerous topics, some of which were extensive series of works: Examples are: the Russian ballet, the circus, people and puppets, Mozart, angels, Jewish weddings, the tango in Paris, the Cuban salsa, the Venice Carnival, bullfighters, nudes (in red), the fields of Provence, and Florida.
