The Baden ‐ Baden Art Forum in St. Ingbert , Saarland, was a privately owned gallery for contemporary art. During business hours, the exhibits could be viewed in the premises of the local representative of Baden-Badener Versicherung AG , a subsidiary of the Zurich Insurance Group at the time.

The art forum

The Baden ‐ Baden Art Forum offered artists from the greater Saar-Lor-Lux region the opportunity to present their work in exhibitions. The selection of the artists was based on the requirement to alternately exhibit both well-known and less established artists as well as young talents. They were able to present their works to an interested audience in the extensive corridors of the building. The exhibition concept of the art forum was designed in such a way that ambitious artists were given the opportunity to show and sell their art without also having to bear the financial expense of the organizational side. 10% of the sales proceeds were donated to the Baden-Baden Children's and Youth Foundation established in 2009.

history

The Kunstforum was founded in 1992 under the name Kunstforum Leismann . The integration of a professionally equipped art gallery was included in the conception of the then new administrative building for the Leismann Group (insurance companies, etc.). The corridors are overdimensioned, hanging fixtures matched to the structure and an elaborate lighting fixture, combined with Japanese garden cultures, created an ambience rarely found in galleries. About five to six exhibitions were shown annually on two light-flooded gallery floors. In 2008 the Baden-Badener Versicherung AG took over the house and the name was changed to "Baden-Badener Kunstforum".

Until 1998, Elmar Peiffer, then head of the St. Ingbert cultural office, was responsible for selecting the artists and curating the exhibitions. Then his successor Ingrid Roberts was responsible for it. The art agency art conexxion later took over the artistic direction. With the exhibition "Passagen im Licht" (Passages in the Light), the gallery ended its exhibition activities in 2016, as the dwindling number of visitors prevented the gallery from continuing.

The artists presented included Albert Haberer (1993), Gaetano Gross , Friedensreich Hundertwasser and Albert Münch .
