Erwin Jordan

Erwin "Pico" Jordan (born April 2, 1953 in Bosserode , Hesse) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ). From 1998 to 2001 he was State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Health, from 1990 to 1994 a member of the Lower Saxony State Parliament . Since 2002 he has been head of social affairs for the Hanover region .

Life path

Jordan completed his Abitur in Rotenburg an der Fulda and then worked for various publishers. From 1981 to 1987 he was employed by the city of Hanover as a parliamentary group officer. In the meantime he was a member of the board of the Lower Saxony Lotto Foundation and managing director of a company in Hanover.

politics

In 1980 Jordan was one of the co-founders of the Green Alternative Citizens' List (GABL) , two years later he joined the Greens. Inside the party he has the nickname "Pico". From November 1986 to May 1990 he was councilor of the city of Hanover and then moved into the state parliament of Lower Saxony in its twelfth legislative period. He was a member of this from June 21, 1990 to June 20, 1994. During this time he was deputy chairman of the parliamentary group of the Greens for the last two years. From October 25, 1991 until he left Parliament, he was Vice President of the State Parliament. Under Health Minister Fischer he was State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Health. As the head of social affairs in the Hanover region, he urged a realistic assessment in the context of the refugee crisis in Germany from 2015 due to the limited reception capacities.
