Occurrence

The range of the ore fisherman stretches from southern Mexico across Central America to western Ecuador , central Bolivia and Brazil . It also occurs in Trinidad . It lives by small rivers in dense forests.

Like many kingfishers, the ore fisherman often hunts from a branch just above the water. He preyed on small fish and tadpoles by throwing himself upside down into the water. Insects supplement the diet and are caught in the open air.

Reproduction

Danger

The species is considered harmless due to its large distribution area, it is classified by the IUCN as LC IUCN 3 1st svg(= least concern - not endangered).
