1987 in Swabia : Ada has to swallow tranquilizers against her inner excitement and stay in the apartment if possible. As an artist, she doesn't think much of cleaning . Her spouse Tristan takes action against the cobwebs in the shared apartment. Because Ada's sister Fides and her husband Renzo, two speech therapists , have announced their visit from Scheveningen .

Ada and Tristan's marriage remained childless. That's good, says Tristan. The husband is surpassed by his wife Ada when it comes to anti-creation talk. She wants to live out her " death instinct"; Submit a “poisoning proposal” to the visit under the motto “Die in four”. Ada's intention was not to wait until some new catastrophe occurs with the quadruple suicide of the more than fifty-year-olds. It's better to do it “when it's particularly nice.” The 86-year-old mother, who lives away from home, is taken care of. On your possible radio finger call, the emergency doctor or even the police will rush to you. The telephone communication between the mother and Ada is also good. If the mother presses a certain key on the phone during a call, a tape recorded by the mother personally is played: “I'm fine, you children”.

Tristan does not want to poison herself because of the side effects, i.e. because of the colic . Ada would like to switch to "very strong sleeping pills ". Fides, who has meanwhile arrived from Scheveningen, warns that razor blades cause pain. And Renzo rejects death in the river, because when things get really serious, swimmers start swimming by themselves. For a gun is missing gun license . While hanging , the noose gives way. The smell of gas is disgusting.

Living on is maybe better after all.

The listener does not learn anything about the execution of the suicide announced above. On the contrary - at the very end he is fooled with an ambiguity: the siblings Ada and Fides are considering the cellar and laundry room as crime scenes. The act of the two sisters who enjoy singing could also mean the performance of Schubert's Fantasia in F minor. The eccentric ladies actually want to sing the piano piece in the basement. Before the "deed", however, the mother calls. Her voice comes from the tape: "I'm fine, you children".
