Escape Dysturbia

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

ESCAPE Dysturbia is the name of a series of games from the game publisher homunculus spiel , an imprint of homunculus Verlag . The games in this series of games are Escape Games in which the player has to experience or solve a story as quickly as possible by completing various kinds of puzzles. The game was developed and designed by Sebastian Frenzel, Joseph Reinthaler, Laura Jacobi, Philip Krömer and Michael Meinke.

theme

The games of ESCAPE Dysturbia are set in a fictional dystopian metropolis called Dysturbia. This city is reminiscent of fictional cities from pop culture, such as Gotham City , or real cities, such as New York City , and is optically based on such templates in all works published to date. There is a high level of corruption in the city and crime is pervasive. The protagonists are the members of the detective agency Dyscover , whose self-chosen goal is to ensure justice in the city where the police no longer help the citizens. The detective agency's antagonist is the Syndicate , a secret criminal organization that has taken control of Dysturbia.

Gameplay

The gameplay is similar to other Escape Games, with a few exceptions. Before the game actually starts, up to eight players can choose a role, thus embodying the people from the Dyscover detective agency . Each character has special specializations that will be useful as you progress through the game. Depending on which character, and thus which subject area, has been selected, various additional hints corresponding to the subject area can be used during the game.

The game is also accompanied by an app that brings additional functions to the game, for example sounds or the Internet. The game principle is based on the fact that the players can play the story by revealing cards from a deck of cards. To find out what the next card is, players must solve logic, combination or search puzzles.

In contrast to many other Escape Games in this form, Escape: Dysturbia has a great focus on the story, which is closely related to the puzzles. It is also unique to this type of game that a coherent story is told across multiple games.
