Eschiva of Saint-Omer

Eschiva of Saint-Omer († after 1265) was princess or titular princess of Galilee .

She was the daughter of Rudolf von Saint-Omer , titular Prince of Galilee and his wife Agnes Garnier.

The principality had been occupied by the Muslim Ayyubids since 1187 . Eschiva inherited the titular principality when her father died in 1219. She married Odo von Montbéliard (also Odo von Montfaucon ), the constable of Jerusalem , son of Walter von Montbéliard († 1212), regent of Cyprus.

She received the principality back in 1240 as a result of the crusade from 1239 to 1241 through a treaty with the Ayyubid Sultanate of Damascus . However, important cities such as Tiberias were sacked as early as 1244 by the Khorezmian mercenaries of the Ayyubid sultan of Cairo , and by 1247 most of Galilee was lost to the Ayyubids again.
