Eskbank House

Eskbank House is a villa in the Scottish town of Dalkeith in the Midlothian Council Area . It was built in 1794 for the clergyman of the Parish Newbattle . In 1971 the building was included in the Scottish List of Monuments in the highest category A.

The villa is located on Glenesk Crescent on the northern edge of Eskbank, which is now part of Dalkeith. The North Esk runs around 50 m to the north . The two-story Eskbank House is designed in the Georgian style . The north-facing front of the almost square building is five axes wide. The central entrance door is designed with Doric columns and a fluted architrave . The wooden door closes with a richly ornamented, semicircular combat window . A sweeping front staircase with a wrought iron railing leads up to the entrance.

The remaining facades, like the front, are designed with lattice windows. However, they are only three axes wide each. On the south side one takes bow window with halbkonischem roof projecting semicircular. The villa closes with a slate platform roof . The building edges are set off with embossed corner stones .
