Estación de San Sebastian
Estación de San Sebastián , also known as "Estación del Norte" (German: North Station), is the most important train station in the capital San Sebastian in the province of Gipuzkoa (Spanish Guipúzcoa ) in the Spanish Autonomous Community of Basque Country . The station with Código Estación: Nº 11511 is at km 622.5 on the main railway line Madrid - Irun - Hendaye , France (Línea Madrid-Hendaya). Both national and international connections are served there. The station is operated by Administrador de Infraestructuras Ferroviarias (ADIF). In 2010 it was used by around 315,000 passengers.
history
Estación de San Sebastián was built by the French railway engineer CA Letourneur and inaugurated on August 15, 1864.
The station gained importance in the history of Spain in 1868, when the Spanish Queen Isabella II, who had been overthrown as a result of the Sexenio Revolucionario , fled into exile in France.
Opened in 1864, the station is one of the city's protected monuments.
