The Estadio 9 de Mayo ( German  Stadium of May 9th ) is a football stadium in the Ecuadorian city ​​of Machala , province of El Oro . It is the home ground of the Club Deportivo Audaz Octubrino and Fuerza Amarilla Sporting Club football clubs . The stadium has seating for 16,500 spectators (other sources speak of 10,000 seats) and was opened on May 9, 1955. Until its expansion in 1973, the stadium initially only held 5,000 seats. In 1974 the stadium was reopened. Almost 20 years later, some matches of the Copa America 1993 took place in the stadium. In 2001 the stadium was rebuilt and expanded again. In the same year, three games of the U-20 South American Championship took place in the stadium.
