Joseph Klek

Joseph Klek (born September 2, 1895 in Hohenbodman near Überlingen , † 1971 ) was a German high school teacher and classical philologist .

After graduating from the humanistic Hebel high school in Lörrach , Joseph Klek studied classical philology, German and history in Basel and Freiburg . He received his doctorate in Freiburg in 1919 under Otto Immisch . After the state examination he worked as a teacher at the Friedrich-Gymnasium in Freiburg, Weinheim and Mannheim . In 1944 he came to the Hebel-Gymnasium in Lörrach, which he headed from 1946 as senior director. From 1954 until his retirement in 1962 he was head of the Berthold-Gymnasium in Freiburg. The opening of the new building on Hirzberg in 1958 fell during his term of office.

He published with his cousin, the beekeeper Ludwig Armbruster , on the history of ancient beekeeping and beekeeping . He also wrote articles for Wilhelm Heinrich Roscher's Detailed Lexicon of Greek and Roman Mythology and in the Realencyclopadie of Classical Antiquity .
