The Estadio Olímpico Andrés Quintana Roo is an athletics and soccer stadium in Cancun , Mexico . The original capacity of around 17,000 seats was specially increased to its current capacity of around 20,000 to enable the Atlante football club to move from Mexico City to Cancún. Atlante has played its home games here since the 2007/08 season, bringing top division football to the Yucatán Peninsula for the first time .

The stadium is named after the politician Andrés Quintana Roo (1787-1851), who is also the namesake of the state of the same name in which the tourist metropolis Cancún is located.

The expanded stadium was officially opened on the second day of the Primera División 2007/08 with the match between Atlante and the UNAM Pumas . After just five minutes, Alain Nkong scored the decisive goal for Atlante's 1-0 victory, making him the first goalscorer in this stadium.

In the last game of the same tournament (the Apertura 2007) the Atlante Potros and the UNAM Pumas faced each other again at exactly the same point. This time Atlante won twice: the game with a late goal by Clemente Ovalle with 2: 1 and thus also the first championship after 13½ years, their only third championship in the Primera División ever.

In general, the club, which previously suffered from chronic failure, seems to be able to pick up on better times at its new location; because just a year and a half later he won the CONCACAF Champions League in this stadium . Because Atlante had already won the final first leg at Cruz Azul 2-0, a goalless game in the second leg on May 12, 2009 in front of their home crowd was enough to win this competition for the second time since 1983.
