Duo Vela
duo Vela is a Spanish pianist duo consisting of the sisters Eulàlia (born November 11, 1970 in Barcelona ) and Ester Vela López (born January 15, 1972 in Barcelona). They first appeared as a duet in 1993 in various cities in Spain, Belgium, Austria and the Philippines.

The sisters studied piano with MJ Crespo, chamber music with L. Maffiotte and sheet music with X. Boliart and C. Guinovart at the municipal conservatory in their hometown. They also had piano lessons with the master pianists T. Bikis, J. Chapuis, P. Eicher, A. Besses, F. Gevers, RM Kucharski, B. Meyer, Y. Mitsui, S. Möller, L. de Moura, K. Ogawa , S. Puche and A. Delle Vigne. They received scholarships from the Spanish Ministry of Culture and Foreign Affairs, the Luxembourg Ministry of Culture, where they took part in an international course on musical perfection (1997), the AIE to take part in an international piano course in Loosdorf-Vienna (1998) and to realize Chamber music perfection studies with Àngel Soler (1999 and 2000).

Eulàlia and Ester Vela López deal with contemporary music and work closely with various composers. As a result, various works by them were premiered. Together with the late mezzo-soprano Anna Ricci, they performed in 1993 at the Miró Foundation in Barcelona and in 1996 at the Miró Foundation in Palma de Mallorca. Since 1993 they have been working with the "Juventudes Musicales de Barcelona".
