Estero Island is an approximately 10 km long, narrow barrier island in Florida off the coast of Fort Myers .
There is only one town on the island, Fort Myers Beach . In the north of the island, which can be reached from San Carlos Blvd. reached from Fort Myers are restaurants, hotels and the islanders' residential areas. Further to the south you will find mostly hotels. The special thing about the north of the island is that restaurants and bars, atypical for the USA, can also be reached on foot.
The beach is white and sandy and rarely overcrowded. It can only get tight on weekends and during the spring break (spring break for American college students). Excursions can be made with the high-speed ferry to Key West in three hours . The Everglades are a good hour's drive away. A trip to the neighboring islands of Sanibel and Captiva Island is also worthwhile .
