The Esuvians ( Latin Esuvii ) were a small Celtic tribe whose settlement area was around their main town Sées on the Orne ( Orne department ), in the west of the later Roman province of Gallia Lugdunensis . Archaeological finds that could prove a settlement of this area by the Esuvians before Roman times have not yet been discovered. Neighbors of the Esuvians were the Aulerci and Curiosolites .

The name of the Esuvians is likely to be related to the god of war Esus , who was possibly their tribal god . The tribes of the Baiokassen and Viducassen are named as their clients, the Veneller as their allies. The Esuvians are equated by some authors with the Sagii, whose name continues in Sées ( Sagium ).

The Esuvians met in the spring of 56 BC. Involved in the West Gallic uprising against Caesar under the leadership of the Venetians . The Roman Legio VII under the legate Publius Licinius Crassus put down this revolt.
