Max him

Maximilian Ihm (born December 25, 1863 in Krotoschin ; † April 24, 1909 in Halle an der Saale ) was a German classical philologist .

From 1883 Max Ihm studied classical philology in Halle and Bonn with Franz Bücheler , where he received his doctorate in 1889. He then traveled to Italy and Greece and completed his habilitation in Halle in 1891. From 1900 to 1902 he was assistant there, then until 1906 second head of the Thesaurus Linguae Latinae in Munich. In 1906 he received an extraordinary professorship in Halle.

He did research on the entire field of Latin philology, with a certain emphasis on authors from the late antiquity . The patristic was already his dissertation to Ambrose of Milan dedicated also an edition of the epigrams of Damasus . Other texts that he edited were the Ars veterinaria des Pelagonius and the Kaiserbiographien Suetons . He was also active in the field of epigraphy as an employee of the Corpus Inscriptionum Latinarum .
