Ethel Marshall

Ethel E. Marshall (born May 6, 1924 in Buffalo , † June 12, 2013 in Weinberg Campus , Getzville , New York) was an American badminton player .

Career

Marshall studied at Bennett High School , then a year at a business school, then worked for 23 years at Bell Aircraft and 18 years at Borden, Inc. as an office manager. After the Second World War , she began to train at the YMCA in Buffalo with Bea Massman at the age of 21 . Ethel Marshall became world champion in 1957 with the US women's team together with Judy Devlin Hashman , Margaret Varner , Lois Alston , Ethel Marshall, Beatrice Massman and coach Connie Davidson. Nationally, she won nine US Canadian titles. She passed on her experience in sport to the following generations until she was old. In tennis, she was Buffalo City Singles Champion for 13 years in a row from 1948 to 1960. In 1956 she was inducted into the US Badminton Hall of Fame , in 1962 she received the Ken Davidson Award and in 2002 she was inducted into the Hall of Fame at Bennett High School.
