Etihad Airways Partners was a brand and a marketing tool under which Etihad Airways initially merged eight airlines in 2014 in which it has interests. The parent company markets this merger externally as an aviation alliance , because bonus programs and other customer services of a company can also be accepted and redeemed by the other sister companies. In contrast to the classic aviation alliances in which independent airlines cooperate with one another on a voluntary basis, in the case of Etihad Airways Partners there is an internal cooperation between the individual subsidiaries and reciprocally with their parent company. Because this is only a cooperation within the Etihad group of companies, Alitalia's membership in the SkyTeam aviation alliance is unaffected and could remain in place.

history

On October 8, 2014, Etihad Airways announced that it would coordinate all airlines in which it has an interest in a new aviation alliance. The alliance is open to other airlines. After the bankruptcy of Air Berlin and Darwin, Etihad decided not to pursue the cooperation under the Etihad Airways Partners brand any further.
