SkyTeam is an aviation alliance founded in 2000 . With currently 19 members, it is the second largest aviation alliance in the world after the Star Alliance .
Members
The societies listed below are members of the SkyTeam Alliance. There are extensive cooperation agreements with one another, such as codeshare agreements , mutual use of airport lounges and coordination and compatibility with frequent flyer programs and their status.
In June 2010 the abolition of the additional partner program was announced, the previous SkyTeam partners Air Europa and Kenya Airways have become full members.
In mid-December 2018, TAROM announced that it wanted to leave the alliance. Kenya Airways has been thinking of leaving the alliance since the end of January 2019. China Southern Airlines announced that they will be leaving SkyTeam in early January 2019 and will no longer be a member.
Garuda Indonesia is SkyTeam's only “5-Star Airline” according to the Skytrax rating .

Structural data
As of March 2015, the SkyTeam network comprised 20 full members. These and some partner airlines maintain a network of a total of 916 destinations in 169 countries with around 14,000 daily departures. SkyTeam members transport 474 million passengers a year. They also have 465 lounges together, and around 150 million members are registered in the various frequent flyer programs of the SkyTeam airline. The entire SkyTeam network fleet comprises 2,364 aircraft from full members and a further 1,104 aircraft from partner companies. SkyTeam members have 388,723 jobs. Worldwide there are three SkyTeam Lounges in London Heathrow (Terminal 4 SkyTeam Terminal) as well as at Istanbul Ataturk Airport and in Sydney.
