Esther Etti Ankri ( Hebrew אתי אנקרי - also Eti or Etty and Ankari ; born January 4, 1963 in Lod ) is an Israeli singer-songwriter , composer and actress . She has been voted Israeli Singer of the Year twice and has also performed in the United States, England and India.

Life

Etti Ankri was born in 1963 as the third child of five siblings in a Tunisian Jewish family in Lod, where she grew up and attended schools. Her father Andre was a police officer in the Israeli police force , her mother Hanna a housewife. The actress Miriam Nevo , who taught in the community center in Lod, is considered to be Ankri's artistic mentor . After military service, Ankri studied at the Rimon School of Music in Ramat Hasharon . Her music style mixes Sephardic , especially Maghrebian elements, with modern pop music. Your self-written texts testify to great poetry. In 1985, her father committed suicide. Ankri is married to the stage actor Doron Linik and has three children. In 2001 she turned to Orthodox Judaism .
