Coat of arms of those of Etzbach

Etzbach is the name of a low-nobility family from the town of the same name in the Westerwald. The place and the Etzbach family are mentioned for the first time in 1290.

history

A distinction is made between two lines Etzbach, which up to now could not be linked genealogically, namely those on Dückeburg and Langen and the Langfort / Lanquit line. At least the Dückeburg line should come from the Mauel house in the Westerwald. Statius von Etzbach (1608 †) zu Dückeburg and Mauel (around 1566) married Engel de Bever (1595 †) in 1572 , heir to the Langen family, or daughter of Schotte and Eilke Onsta . The following heir daughter of the Dückeburg family also comes from this line. Mechthild Elisabeth von Etzbach was married to the bailiff Franz Wilhelm Spies von Büllesheim since March 18, 1685 . Through the marriage, the Dückeburg manor, long owned by the von Etzbach family, came into the possession of the Spies Büllesheim zu Maubach family and remained in their possession until 1825. The Lanquit / Langfort line, on the other hand, descends from Wilhelm von Etzbach (lived around 1566) , Son of Ludwig and Adelheid von der Leyen , married to Anna Staël von Holstein , heir to the Lanquit / Langfort family and daughter of Johann and Catharina von Keppel .
