Euadne (daughter of Iphis)
Euadne ( Greek Εὐάδνη ) is in Greek mythology a daughter of Iphis and wife of Capaneus , with whom she begat Sthenelos . When her husband was killed by a lightning bolt from Zeus during the siege of Thebes , she threw herself on the burning pyre and died. In antiquity, the deed was considered an example of loyalty to the species.
