Eugène Vées

Eugène Vées , called "Ninine" (* 1915 ; † 1977 ) was a French jazz guitarist .

Vées, a cousin of Django Reinhardt , was initially active as a banjo player and accompanied Gus Viseur . Since 1938 he was rhythm guitarist of the Quintette du Hot Club de France , with whom he also appeared in London, Stockholm and Brussels. He also accompanied Reinhardt in other groups such as Djangos Music until 1943 and then occasionally again in 1946 and 1947; he was also involved in numerous recordings by Reinhardt. He also worked on recordings by Larry Adler , André Ekyan and Hubert Rostaing . Since 1953 he was also active as a solo guitarist. With his own quartet, which included Léo Slab on violin, Emmanuel Soudieux on bass and probably Lousson Reinhardt on rhythm guitar, he recorded the tracks “Songe d'automne” and “Pour que ma vie demeure”. In 1941 he accompanied Charles Trénet in the film La Romance de Paris by director Jean Boyer . Together with Joseph Reinhardt , he was Babik Reinhardt's teacher , who also performed with him.
