Eugen Gottstein

Eugen Gottstein (born December 12, 1897 in Basel , † September 25, 1978 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

After attending elementary school, Gottstein completed an apprenticeship as an electrician in Freiburg, which he completed with a journeyman's examination. He worked as an electrician in Freiburg and Berlin , passed the examination as a master electrician in 1922 and started his own business in Freiburg in 1924. From 1916 to 1918 he took part in the First World War as a soldier .

Gottstein joined the KPD in 1919 and was chairman of the Freiburg Communists from 1920 to 1924. In 1925 he left the KPD and in 1926 he became a member of the SPD. After the National Socialists came to power , the authorities boycotted his electronics business, whereupon he joined a resistance group in Munich in 1943 . During the Second World War he was drafted as a foreman in the Air Force from 1940 to 1945 .

After 1945 Gottstein was state secretary of the SPD in Baden . From 1946 to 1947 he was a member of the Advisory State Assembly of the State of Baden .
