Eugene Kamenev

Eugen Kamenew (born January 24, 1982 in Temirtau ) is a German-Russian photographer . The subject of his work are night landscapes and astronomical occultations around the globe. His photographs show the silhouettes of people against the background of the eclipsed sun and moon. Before making the recordings, in which his models are several hundred meters away from the camera, Kamenew carries out astronomical and geometric calculations.

Life

Kamenew grew up 1200 km northeast of the Baikonur spaceport in Temirtau , Kazakhstan . After emigrating to Germany, he studied media sociology at the Philipps University in Marburg . Today he lives and works in Düsseldorf .

Awards

  • 2010: First place for Digital Media Achievement at the First Look Mixed Media Festival at Hawaii Pacific University
  • 2014: Astrophotographer of the Year from Royal Greenwich Observatory and BBC Sky at Night magazine in the 'People & Sky' category
