Eugen Viehof

Karl Eugen Viehof (born February 28, 1916 in Mönchengladbach ; † February 5, 2010 ) was a German entrepreneur.

In 1962, Eugen Viehof and his brother-in-law Gerhard Ackermans founded the Selgros wholesale business , which later became the Allkauf department stores.

In 1998, Viehof sold its retail group to the Metro Group for around 2.4 billion marks . The Vibro- Beteiligungsgesellschaft (short name "vibrogruppe") was founded from the sales proceeds .

In 1985 he received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for his entrepreneurial achievements .

Eugen Viehof had four sons who founded the Eugen Viehof Foundation on the occasion of his 80th birthday in 1996 . The German Schiller Foundation annually awards the Eugen Viehof gift of honor to German writers from the basic assets .
