Gerhard Ackermans

Gerhard Ackermans (born February 25, 1926 in Mönchengladbach ; † November 7, 2011 in Kerken-Aldekerk ) was a German entrepreneur from Mönchengladbach.

Life

Ackermans founded the Selgros wholesale market in 1962 with his brother-in-law Eugen Viehof , which later became the Allkauf department stores. At the end of the eighties he became involved in the media sector. He initially bought several radio stations and the film rights exploiter Medimedia GmbH. Later he wanted to found a private broadcaster that was supposed to be based solely on advertising income. This made him a pioneer of teleshopping in Germany. In 1986 he founded Eureka TV , which later became ProSieben Television GmbH. In the list of the richest Germans he was 92nd in 2004.

Ackermans was a member of the Catholic student association KDSt.V. Ascania Bonn . From 1950 to 2002 he was chairman of the Aldekerk gymnastics club. As part of his 70th anniversary, he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on March 25, 1977 .

Gerhard Ackermans died widowed and left four daughters.
