Chronology of the richest Germans
The list of the richest Germans enumerates the assets of the richest individuals of German citizenship in chronological order . Forbes Magazine publishes a list of the richest people in the world annually under the title The World's Billionaires .
Explanations
The information on assets is an estimate. The assessment is based on research carried out by asset managers , lawyers , bank managers and insiders . Assets were prudently valued, share capital according to the prices on a reference date (for example August 31, 2004), unlisted companies according to their turnover , profitability and market position. Assets include company holdings, property and real estate , shares , private collections and foundations , unless they are expressly charitable foundations. Large families whose assets can no longer be assigned to a manageable group of people are not in the ranking. The list only contains people with German citizenship .
criticism
In its May 2006 issue, Cicero magazine criticized the fact that the Forbes list found it difficult to determine the stock values of the family office and that the information was therefore based on estimates .
Regardless of the various approaches to under- and over-valuation policies of the economic areas considered, the Forbes source sees itself as an estimate.
In 2011 Josef Boquoi , founder of the Bofrost company , sued Manager Magazin for an injunction. He no longer wanted to be on the list of the 100 richest Germans. The District Court of Munich I dismissed the action. The presiding judge stated that a society should be able to discuss very large assets, their creation and their use.
