The Actris GmbH (formerly: Actris AG) based in Mannheim focused on the management and exploitation of real estate. It was the holding company of a beverage and real estate company. In the course of several takeovers, the company was created in 2000 through a change of name from the former Frankfurt-based Henninger Bräu AG .

After the bankruptcy of Henninger's main shareholder Gebr. März AG in 1996, Dietmar Hopp took over a majority in the company in 1999. In 2010, his company Actris Beteiligungs GmbH & Co. KG in Walldorf held 98.27% of the share capital of Actris AG.

Holdings

Former Henninger site. 2013 in Frankfurt am Main

After the closure of the Henninger brewery in Frankfurt and the sale of the “Henninger” brand to the Frankfurt local rivals Binding , which belongs to the Oetker Group , the company now includes the Mannheimer Eichbaum breweries and the Freiberg brewery . In 2000, the Strauch group of companies from Heppenheim with the Odenwald-Quelle mineral springs in Heppenheim and Oppacher Mineralquellen in Oppach was taken over. In 2004 a majority stake in the Pirmasenser brewery Park & Bellheimer was added.

Market position

The resulting regional beverage association achieved market leadership from the greater Rhine-Neckar area to Saarland . The cumulative beverage sales were 3.6 million hectoliters (2003), of which 1.3 million hectoliters were non-alcoholic beverages. The number of employees in 2004 (2003) was 685 (682) plus 45 (41) trainees.

Tariff policy

At times, the company was criticized on the employee side after most parts of the company had withdrawn from the collective agreement of the breweries. The last time there was a strike at Eichbaum that lasted several weeks in January 2005 prevented the existing house tariff from deteriorating further .

Withdrawal from the beverage market

In 2006 the company decided to completely withdraw from the beverage market and concentrate on real estate business in Frankfurt. The "Freiberger Brauhaus" with around 200 employees and sales of around one million hectoliters was sold to the Radeberger Group , which belongs to the Oetker group .

In the form of a management buy-out , the company parted with Oppacher Mineralquellen GmbH & Co. KG , which was taken over by the former Actris board member Eric Schäffer. In the same way, the shares in the Eichbaum breweries and Odenwald-Quelle were sold in 2010 . The Park & Bellheimer brewery regained its independence when Mr. Roald Pauli took over the majority of the shares.
