Heinz-Georg Baus

Heinz-Georg Baus (born February 25, 1934 in Heidelberg ; † May 10, 2016 ) was a German entrepreneur .

Life

Heinz-Georg Baus grew up in Schriesheim north of Heidelberg. After finishing school, Baus did an apprenticeship as a carpenter and glazier in his parents' company. At the age of 26, Baus founded the German company Bauhaus in Mannheim in 1960, based on the American model of The Home Depot . Baus moved to Switzerland early on. According to the magazine Bilanz , Baus was one of the 300 richest people living in Switzerland in 2005. Another company founded by Baus is the bathroom supplier Duscholux.

Private

Baus was considered a public shy. He was married and lived temporarily in Monaco . He rarely gave interviews; Nothing was made public about his private life. With a fortune of 2.65 billion euros , he was one of the richest Germans.
