The Siepmann Foundation is a family foundation for managing the assets of the trading company Aldi Süd . The foundation was established on October 19, 1973 by Karl Albrecht as a foundation under civil law . It is based in Eichenau in the Fürstenfeldbruck district in Upper Bavaria . Siepmann is the maiden name of Anna Albrecht, the mother of Karl Albrecht.

Foundation purpose

The purpose of the foundation is "to protect and promote the common interests of the members of the Albrecht family".

The foundation holds the total assets and trademark rights to Aldi Süd. The total assets of Aldi Süd include:

  • the corporate headquarters of Aldi Süd in Mülheim an der Ruhr
  • 31 legally independent Aldi Süd regional companies in Germany
  • the 9 foreign companies
  • the real estate assets of the approx. 5000 Aldi-Süd branches worldwide

Other foundations are the Oertl Foundation , formerly the Maria Albrecht Foundation, and the Elisen Foundation . Half of the assets of the Siepmann Foundation are allocated to them if there are no more descendants of the founder, Karl Albrecht. While the Oertl Foundation financially supports cardiovascular research, the Elisen Foundation is dedicated to promoting cultural projects.

Organs and representatives

The foundation bodies are the board of directors, the control council and the family day.

Since March 2006 the foundation has been managed by Peter Max Heister (* 1976), a son of Beate Heister (daughter of Karl Albrecht). The board also includes Beate Heister, Renate Köcher and Jürgen Hambrecht . The board of directors is the control body for the control council consisting of Jürgen Kroll and Norbert Podschlapp , which heads Aldi Süd.
