The Hexal AG is a German subsidiary of the pharmaceutical company Novartis , based in Holzkirchen (Bavaria) . Hexal is one of the leading generics manufacturers on the German market.

The portfolio includes around 5,900 drugs for numerous therapeutic areas with a total of around 400 active ingredients - around 200 million items leave the production line every year.

history

In 1986 Andreas and Thomas Strüngmann founded Hexal Chemie GmbH & Co KG in Tegernsee .

In February 2005 the founders sold Hexal AG to the Swiss Novartis Group ; there Hexal was integrated into the subgroup Sandoz .

The new headquarters of Sandoz was then relocated from Vienna in Austria to Holzkirchen in Germany. At the same time, the generics manufacturer Eon Labs was integrated into Sandoz. On June 7, 2005, Novartis announced the completion of the Hexal acquisition.

Others

Hexal has been organizing the German Down Sports Festival in Frankfurt since 2003 . Children and adolescents with Down syndrome (trisomy 21) can compete here from the age of four.
