Salutas Pharma is a German pharmaceutical company based in Barleben .

Salutas is a subsidiary of Hexal AG , which operates within the Sandoz generics division of the Novartis Group. With around 1300 employees, the company is one of the largest employers in Saxony-Anhalt . Barleben is the largest production site for pharmaceutical products within the Sandoz group. The annual production of around 8 billion capsules and tablets takes place for the brands Hexal and 1 A Pharma. The logistics center in Barleben is used to distribute the finished goods produced on site and products purchased from outside for export to 75 countries.

The company location in Osterweddingen is used to produce ointments, creams and gels as well as low-dose hormone tablets.

history

Salutas was founded in 1992 through the privatization of the pharmaceutical division of Fahlberg-List , which was taken over by Hexal. In 1995 the location in Barleben was rebuilt.
