CPO Genova of the shipping company Offen

The Offen Group is a German shipping company based in Hamburg . The company was founded in 1971 by Claus-Peter Offen as the shipping company Claus-Peter Offen GmbH & Co. KG. Claus-Peter Offen is the youngest son of the Hamburg shipowner Emil Offen .

The shipping company operates a modern container ship fleet (1,800 to 14,000 TEU ) with over 50 ships. This also includes the CPO Italy class , seven identical Superpostpanmax full container ships with a capacity of 14,000 TEU each. The shipping company's ships prefer to use liner services operated by major charterers such as Maersk , CMA CGM , Hapag-Lloyd or the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC). The shipping company takes care of the technical, operational and commercial management as well as the manning of the ships.

history

The shipping company Claus-Peter Offen GmbH & Co KG was founded on June 9, 1971. While the shipping company used to be a client of the German shipyard industry , today the ships are mainly built in South Korea at shipyards such as Hyundai Heavy Industries in Ulsan, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering in Busan or Samsung Heavy Industries in Koje.

Since 2007, the company has also been involved in chemical and product tankers as well as bulk shipping . The shipping company operated, among other things, eight special tankers à 36,000  dwt and eight special tankers à 52,000 dwt, in addition to four bulk carriers of the Capesize class.

In 2015, the shipping company Claus-Peter Offen was restructured into the "Offen Group" in preparation for new business areas on the international capital market. The shipping company Claus-Peter Offen became the "CPO Containerschiffreederei". The Offen Group now includes the Claus-Peter Offen Tankschiffreederei, Claus-Peter Offen Bulkschiffreederei, CPO Containerschiffreederei and CPO Crewing.

In March 2017, the shipping company Claus-Peter Offen took over the Munich-based Conti Group, including its shares in Bremer Bereederungsgesellschaft. The shares held by the Conti group of companies in the Buxtehude-based NSB Niederelbe Schiffahrtsgesellschaft are not affected by the takeover .

At the end of April 2019, Offen sold its tank division to the Bremen-based Zeaborn Group . With the sale of Claus-Peter Offen Tankschiffreederei (CPO Tankers) , the group wants to focus entirely on owning and operating container ships in the post-Panamax category, according to DVZ .
