Zeaborn is a shipping company in Bremen . The company was founded in April 2013. 90% of the shares are held by the building contractor Kurt Zech, the managing partner of the Bremer Zech Group .

history

The shipping company Zeaborn was founded in April 2013 with the aim of operating a fleet of 90-100 heavy lift ships . In April 2014, the shipping company ordered ten heavy-lift carriers from the Chinese shipyard Taizhou Sanfu Ship Engineering . However, the order was later canceled. In July 2015, Zeaborn took a 50% stake in the shipping company EMS Conbulk in Leer .

In May 2016, the majority takeover of HC Chartering in Ahrensburg , which was founded in 2011 and which had 14 heavy lift ships under management, took place. Due to the cooperation with Carisbroke Shipping in the United Kingdom, another 16 heavy lift vessels came under Zeaborn management.

Rickmers-Line was taken over in March 2017. The Zeaborn fleet grew to around 50 ships with a carrying capacity of 7,500 - 30,000 tdw. In September 2017, the Zeaborn Group and a consortium took over the ship management division of the insolvent Rickmers Holding from Bertram Rickmers . Bertram Rickmers became a minority shareholder. At the beginning of February 2018, the takeover of ER Schiffahrt and the brokerage company Harper Petersen from Erck Rickmers took place retroactively to January 1 . This increased the fleet of managed ships to around 165.

In May 2018, Zeaborn and the US shipping company Intermarine, which belongs to Maritime Holdings (Delaware), founded the joint venture Zeamarine , in which Zeaborn holds 75% and the previous Intermarine owner New Mountain, to chartering the combined fleet with around 75 ships at that time Capital 25%. In April 2019, Zeaborn took over the shares of New Mountain Capital.

In May 2020, Zeamarine filed for bankruptcy.

Zeaborn group

The Zeaborn Group is a shipping company in the heavy lift segment. The Zeaborn Shipowning division invests in existing tonnage and newbuildings, and the Zeaborn Chartering division is responsible for the commercial management of the combined fleet. This includes the chartering service, travel planning, technical assessment as well as loading and unloading supervision. The shipping area was covered by Zeaborn Shipping . In August 2018, the ship management of the companies of the Zeaborn Group were merged under the name Zeaborn Ship Management .

In 2019 Zeaborn took over Claus-Peter Offen Tankschiffreederei (CPO Tankers), which belongs to the Offen Group . In early November 2019, the company was renamed Zeaborn Ship Management Tanker (Zeaborn Tankers).

Around 400 employees work on land and around 4,500 at sea in the Zeaborn Group. The company is represented worldwide with locations in Asia, Europe and the USA.
