The ER Schiffahrt GmbH & Cie. KG was a shipping company based in Hamburg . According to its own information, the company employed around 3,500 people at sea and on land in 2016.

The company offered services in the field of new building planning, modifications and insurance. At the beginning of 2018, a shipping investment company for institutional investors was founded under the name Blue Star Group . The company parted with the ship management and chartering business areas at the beginning of 2018.

history

The company's roots go back to Nordcapital , an issuing house founded in 1992 by Erck Rickmers and his brother Bertram Rickmers . Initially operated together, the two brothers separated in 1996, after which Erck Rickmers continued to run Nordcapital and two years later founded the shipping company ER Schiffahrt . The first commissioned construction of the new company was the container ship E. R. Hamburg . It had a capacity of 2226  TEU and was put into service in September 1998.

In the beginning, ER Schiffahrt was focused on the operation and chartering of container ships, from 2006 the operation expanded to include offshore suppliers (initially in partnership with the Norwegian shipping company OSM ), bulk carriers and multi-purpose ships . In January 2008 Erck Rickmers managed the ship management company E.R. Schiffahrt and ER Offshore as well as the investment company Nordcapital under the umbrella of ER Capital Holding .

In 2012 ER Schiffahrt merged with the Komrowski shipping company and its subsidiary Blue Star under the umbrella of Blue Star Holding . The majority of the capital of the parent company lies with ER Capital Holding , the holding company of ER Schiffahrt . Also in 2012, the first unit of the ultra-large container ship class, the ER Benedetta , a Hyundai 13,000 TEU standard type ship, was taken over . The container ship has a capacity of 13,100 TEU, making it one of the company's largest container ship types.

At the beginning of February 2018, the company sold the ship management operations and the chartering outsourced to the Harper Petersen company to the Bremen company Zeaborn with retroactive effect from January 1, 2018 .

fleet

ER Schiffahrt operated a fleet of 62 container ships and 17 bulk carriers in October 2017.

In addition, six offshore supply vessels of the subsidiary were ER Offshore bereedert (four modern platform supply vessels (PSV) and two anchor handling tug (AHTS)).
