August Oetker (born March 17, 1944 in Bielefeld ) is a German entrepreneur .

Oetker is a great-grandson of the founder of the Oetker Group August Oetker and son of Rudolf-August Oetker . He did a commercial apprenticeship in a shipping company . He has been with the Oetker Group since 1972 and was personally liable partner of the company from January 1, 1981 to 2009 . During his tenure, he led the individual independent companies to the international company Dr. August Oetker KG and expanded it to become the European market leader in the fields of baked goods, baking mixes , dessert products and frozen pizzas .

Since January 1, 2010, his brother Richard has been a personally liable partner of Dr. August Oetker KG. August Oetker is chairman of the advisory board.

On October 11, 2000, Oetker was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Faculty of Economics at the University of Witten-Herdecke . He is chairman of the board of directors (comparable to the supervisory board of a private company) of the University of Witten / Herdecke and a member of the board of trustees of the Liberal Network Foundation .

On October 19, 2019, Oetker was awarded the Order of Merit of the State of Saxony-Anhalt for his commitment to the “Friends of Luther” association and for his services to the preservation of the cultural and historical heritage of the State of Saxony-Anhalt .

In March 2019 it became known that August Oetker is retiring from the Oetker company after his 75th birthday.

Oetker has six children and is married to Nina Oetker for the third time.
