Order of Merit of the State of Saxony-Anhalt

The Order of Merit of the State of Saxony-Anhalt is the highest state award for outstanding services to the State of Saxony-Anhalt and its population and is worn by a maximum of 300 people living at the same time.

The Prime Minister awards the medal. It recognizes exceptional performance over a longer period of time or a very exceptional individual performance.

history

The Order of Merit was founded on June 19, 2006 by the state of Saxony-Anhalt and is the continuation of the former highest honor in the state, the "Minister President's Badge of Honor". This is now called the " Badge of Honor of the State of Saxony-Anhalt " and as such is ranked after the Order of Merit.

Order decoration

The medal of the Order of Merit is an eight-pointed white enameled cross with a narrow black border and a gold border. In the middle there is a round gold medallion with the national coat of arms on the front. The reverse bears the inscription "For services to the state of Saxony-Anhalt".

Ribbon and wearing form

Proposal authorization

The Prime Minister, the ministers for their areas of responsibility and the members of the Order's Advisory Board, which consists of the President of the State Parliament, the Deputy Prime Minister, the President of the State Constitutional Court and the President of the State Audit Office , are entitled to make proposals . Anyone can write to those entitled to propose with suggestions. The proposals are examined by the religious advisory board and submitted to the prime minister with a recommendation for a decision.

The awarding of the Order of Merit of the State of Saxony-Anhalt and the handing over of the medal insignia is usually carried out by the Prime Minister. The people who suggested and suggested the award will be informed about the award. The award certificate is drawn up and signed by the Prime Minister. It bears the official seal of the state of Saxony-Anhalt. The award will be announced in the Ministerialblatt for the State of Saxony-Anhalt.

Medal bearer

The Order of Merit was not awarded in 2006, 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2016. According to the implementation regulations of the Prime Minister for the Order of Merit of the State of Saxony-Anhalt, the award will be announced in the Ministerialblatt for the State of Saxony-Anhalt.
