The State Audit Office of Saxony-Anhalt is a supreme state authority based on Kavalierstrasse in Dessau . Its task is the independent external financial control of the authorities of the state of Saxony-Anhalt and individual other corporations under public law in the state. He is independent of instructions and only subject to the law. It started work on March 7, 1991 with 60 employees.

The basis for the creation of the state audit office is Article 98 of the constitution of the state of Saxony-Anhalt .
tasks
The State Audit Office of Saxony-Anhalt audits the accounting of the ministries, state operations, offices, administrations, authorities of the state as well as those of the districts, municipalities with over 25,000 inhabitants and municipal special-purpose associations in Saxony-Anhalt. In addition, he examines public broadcasters with the participation of the state, such as the Norddeutsche Landesbank and the Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk .
