The Rhineland-Palatinate Court of Auditors is the highest financial auditing authority of the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate . It has its headquarters in Speyer and branches in Koblenz and Trier . Jörg Berres has been President of the Court of Auditors since July 1, 2017. In the 2018 financial year, the Court of Auditors had 181 employees. It was founded in 1945 as the Speyer Chamber of Accounts and was given its current name in 1947.

Legal bases

The current basis for the creation of the Rhineland-Palatinate Court of Audit is the state law on the Rhineland-Palatinate Court of Auditors (short form RHG) of December 20, 1971.

tasks

The tasks of the audit office are to audit and advise the state government including the ministries, the state parliament and all affiliated state companies and special funds. In addition, he also checks the budget management of the municipalities and associations of municipalities in the state and that of ZDF , Südwestrundfunk (together with the Baden-Württemberg Court of Auditors ) and the state center for media and communication .

The audit office stands independently and independently at the level of the state ministries, but neither the state government nor the state parliament are authorized to issue instructions to the audit office.
