The Court of Auditors of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg is a state authority in Hamburg to control the budget and economic management of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.
Its legal status is regulated by Article 71 of the Hamburg Constitution . He is independent and only subject to the law. Its members are elected by the citizens on the proposal of the Senate with a majority of two thirds of their legal membership.
The audit office was established on January 1, 1949, and its headquarters are in the office building of the Hamburg tax authority on Gänsemarkt. Stefan Schulz has been president since June 2012 .
