Kay Barthel (born January 3, 1971 in Magdeburg ) is a German politician ( CDU ). From 2011 to 2015 he was a member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt . Since April 13, 2015, he has been President of the State Audit Office of Saxony-Anhalt .

Life and work

From 1987 to 1990, Barthel completed vocational training as a mechanical engineer with a high school diploma at the SKET company vocational school in Magdeburg. From 1990 to 1996 he studied at the Otto von Guericke University in Magdeburg and graduated as a graduate engineer . From 1995 until 2001 he worked as a project manager at BSB GmbH Magdeburg and then worked for the Chamber of Engineers Saxony-Anhalt until 2007 . From 2007 to 2010 he was the personal advisor to the Saxony-Anhalt State Transport Minister Karl-Heinz Daehre , and in February 2010 he became head of the ministerial office in the Ministry for State Development and Transport. Barthel has been an honorary member of the transport committee of the Magdeburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry since 2011 .

He has been married since 1994 and has two children.

politics

Barthel joined the CDU in 2003. From 2004 to 2008 he was chairman of the MIT Bördekreis , and since 2005 he has been chairman of the CDU Sülzetal . In 2009 he was in the council of the united community elected Sülzetal.

Barthel stood in the state elections in Saxony-Anhalt on March 20, 2011 as a direct candidate for the CDU in constituency 20 ( Wanzleben ) and won the constituency with 33.6% of the first votes . From April 19, 2011 to April 12, 2015, he was a member of the Saxony-Anhalt state parliament. In March 2015, the state parliament elected Barthel as President of the State Audit Office of Saxony-Anhalt in a secret ballot with 74 out of 103 votes. The President of the Saxony-Anhalt State Parliament, Detlef Gürth, presented him with the certificate of appointment on April 13, 2015, after he had legally resigned his CDU member's mandate on April 12, 2015. The term of office is twelve years.
