The Wernigerode-Hasserode natural history-geological educational trail is a combined natural history , geology and mining educational trail in the Hasserode district of the city of Wernigerode in the Harz region . It is an approx. 7 km long circular route that almost without exception leads through forest areas in the northern Harz Mountains . The raft place not far from the Hasserode train station, the Steinerne Renne stop of the Harzquer and Brocken Railway or the forest car park above the Lossendenkmal in Thumkuhlental, next to the former Hasserode water house, can be used as the start and finish point of the educational trail.

The nature trail was opened in the mid-1990s by the Geschichts- und Heimatverein e. V. based on an idea by Günter Rösicke and Herbert Zange. It leads over a series of resting points with a total of 17 display boards on which topics such as geology, mining, forestry and water management are dealt with in words and pictures.

On the occasion of the 114th German Hiking Day in 2014, the nature trail was renovated. In January 2018, the nature trail suffered heavily from the storm Friederike . The destroyed overshot water supply to the artificial bike was restored in 2019.
