Heinz Bauer (publisher)

Heinz Heinrich Bauer (born October 28, 1939 in Hamburg ) is a German publisher . The descendant of the publisher's founder Johann Andreas Ludolph Bauer ran the family company, the Bauer Media Group (legal name: Heinrich Bauer Verlag KG) from 1963 to 2010 in the fourth generation.

Life

After leaving school, he trained as a typesetter and book printer . In 1972, Bauer joined Heinrich Bauer KG as a general partner (10% stake). Since the death of his father Alfred Bauer in 1984, Heinz Bauer has held 96% of the company's shares. His fortune was estimated at around $ 1.6 billion in 2007 and he was ranked 32nd among the richest Germans .

As a shareholder in Allgemeine Hypothekenbank Rheinboden (AHBR) , he turned against its sale to the US company Lone Star in 2006 and criticized the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) in this context .

Bauer and his wife Gudrun have four daughters. Mirja Bauer was the editor of Life & Style magazine. Her husband, the publishing manager Sven-Olof Reimers, works in the Bauer Media Group as managing director of Digital KG. Yvonne Bauer has headed the Bauer Media Group since April 2007 and has been its publisher since 2010. Nicola Bauer is the editor of InTouch magazine. The youngest daughter Saskia Bauer heads the International West division.

The Bauer couple are committed to charitable causes, including a. the Cancer Research and the initiative "Riding Against Hunger" of Welthungerhilfe .
