history
In 1959 Ursula Ida Lapp and her husband Oskar Lapp founded UI Lapp KG to manufacture and sell their invention, Ölflex , the first industrially manufactured flexible control cable with color coding. In 1979, the first foreign branch was established in the USA. As a result, the company became a global player and one of the world's leading providers of integrated solutions and branded products for cable and connection technology.
Products
The company manufactures products from four product areas: cables and accessories, industrial connectors, system solutions and communication technology.
In the area of cables and accessories, connection and control cables , drag chain cables, cables for servomotors , temperature-resistant cables, as well as data, LSN and bus cables are offered. The industrial connector area produces rectangular and circular connectors , as well as assembly systems for electrical and communications engineering , measurement, testing and control technology, mechanical engineering and device technology. There are also automation products for Profibus and Interbus applications. As system solutions, the company offers customer-specific individual system solutions from development to production to logistics and services. The communications technology division provides active network components, firewalls for industry with VPN functionality, as well as other accessories and services (consulting, network design and planning, analysis and support). Industrial video solutions and process monitoring are also offered.
The company's brands include Ölflex (flexible, oil-resistant connection and control cables), Hitronic (fiber optic cables for data transmission), Unitronic (data cables for various applications), Epic (flexible industrial connectors ), Skintop (universal cable entry systems), and Silvyn (Protective hoses and energy chains to protect cables and wires), Fleximark (labeling systems) and Etherline (components and system solutions for active network technology).

In cooperation with the German Society for Cardiology - Heart and Circulatory Research, the Oskar Lapp Foundation, founded in 1992, supports young scientists working on research projects in the field of cardiology .
